Should I wear a bra?

We get this question a lot, and for the major majority of gowns it is a flat no. Most wedding gowns are designed with plenty of built in structure, from cups to boning. Wearing a bra can dramatically change how the gown sits on your body and how your body sits in the gown, so we strongly advise trying the gowns without one.

During the trying on process sometimes you can feel a little unsupported, especially if the gown is not your correct size, which is very often the case as we don’t have every dress in every size available to try on. Try not to let this concern you too greatly, once you have chosen a gown and had it altered to fit you perfectly you will be very secure in your fit. Often small additions such as extra cups can make a difference in the support offered by the gown and have you sitting comfortably and achieving the desired look.

As for bridesmaids or other formal gowns this question isn’t as cut and dry and there are so many different gown styles. Depending on the gown you choose, some will allow for under garments of any style to be worn, or others may dictate in a similar way to a wedding dress what will work best.
